Hi I’m Silver Torres a college freshman from Xavier University in Cagayan de Oro. During my high school life is not easy, my family lives in Cauayan City, Isabela while I was in Cagayan de Oro in my grandparents. My dad always said he wanted me to graduate as a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering (BS CpE). So when I was in Senior High School I took the ICT strand because I wish to pursue degree in Computer Engineering. This is the time when I met crush who is now my girlfriend. With the help of ICT I learn how to use facebook, messenger, twitter, skype and so on for me to communicate to her. We both took the ICT strand because she also wanted computer engineering.
The ICT strand equips students with basic topics on illustration, web design, animation, technical drafting, and computer programming. ICT helps me a lot, my skills are improved and I learn how to be independent, I used my computer skills to earn money for my studies. When I was in Senior High School, ICT is a big help for me. It makes me move innovation, faster and advance in our lesson with the use of technology in different application. Before I enter the life of being college, I having a research on the advantage and disadvantage of ICT. With the advantage, in communication, time and money can be saved. Probably, the best advantage of ICT has been the creation of new and interesting jobs. It can also help businesses to be automated giving clients access to a website or voicemail 24/7. Through education, computer’s along with their programs and the internet have created educational opportunities not available to previous generation and trough ICT, teachers are able to create interactive classrooms and make the lesson more enjoyable. With the disadvantage, some people become addicted because of this, they also use this on the wrong way. It also lack of job security, though ICT may have communication quicker and easier, people are now worried about their once private information becoming public knowledge. There are lot of advantage and disadvantage in ICT but be aware and be wise person.
Now that I’m college, I know that ICT has a part of my success in the future. But the truth is that it may affect but at the same time it may help our daily lives as an individual or an organization in the society. ICT has a huge impact to where we live, it is up to us on how will use this gift in making a better place for us all.
